In 2008 and 2009, Salzburg Global Seminar, in partnership with the Institute of Development Studies and the Future Agricultures Consortium, held a series of events under the title Toward a 'Green Revolution' in Africa?. The recommendations from the first two events (held in Salzburg in 2008) are captured in a summary report, available in English, French and Portuguese. Consultations were held in Africa in 2009 as a follow-up to the Salzburg events and those recommendations were used to inform the 2010 Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD).

In 2011, we continued work in this arena with a session on Transforming Agricultural Development and Production in Africa: Closing Gender Gaps and Empowering Rural Women in Policy and Practice. 

In 2013, the session, Africa's Growth Engine: Partnerships for Rural Enterprise and Impact at Scale was held in partnership with IFAD.
